Patrick Short is currently at the University of Cambridge studying for a PhD in Mathematical Genomics and Medicine. Short spent six months in China with the US State Department’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth, and has worked and volunteered in Guatemala, Peru, and Thailand. Scientists and policy-makers have historically done a poor job communicating with one another, and Short wants to be part of the next generation of scientists working to bridge this gap.
Short served as a youth delegate to the G8/G20 summits in Toronto, Canada in 2010 and is excited to represent the United States again this year. In his free time, Short loves hiking, rowing, cooking, and reading. Short grew up in North Carolina and studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Applied Mathematics and Quantitative Biology with a minor in Chinese Language.
